1946-2001

In its 55 years TWA TLV was an important Gateway to the East on its Round-the-World routes.
During the narrow body age of the 707 TWA serviced to the West - ATH - FCO - FRA - CDG - JFK - BOS - ORD - STL - MCI

to the East :
BOM - BKK - MNL - GUM - OKA - HNL - LAX - SFO - MKC - STL

In addition to its Passenger Operation, TWA also operated Cargo Planes.
The Station size and Manpower varied over the years from its greatest expansion in the early seventies with over 200 employees in 1972 when its own Maintenance Department was opened, to about 100 in March 2001.

Thank you Kaye for making this video ! " We Remember "TWA Flight 800 - 17 July 1996 - Blessed Memory !

Shalom and Welcome to TRANS-WORLD-ISRAEL !

TWA  was our great home for decades ! Let us NEVER forget that !
Whatever claims we still have, we do hope that a way will be found for an honorable solution ...
Sincerely, Gil Pahl - Webmaster - Tel Aviv - Israel - April 2006/2021

25 March 2001 after the last flight had left Tel Aviv for JFK - TWA ceased operations to Tel Aviv without prior notice !

In 2001 American Airlines acquired TWA ! The Israeli route was dropped to avoid severance pay to the local TWA employees.

Twenty years ago none of us had a clue that TWA would cease to exsist in a matter of months and especially within a matter of days for TWA Israel, like sudden thunder on a clear day !

TWA Israel took the first blow and was not part of the Aquisition by American Airlines

On April 10,2001 TWA started to operate as "TWA Airlines LLC" - An American Airlines Company

For a short season some planes operated with
this unique livery AA colors and a TWA tail

8 months later TWA faded into aviation history, on Dec 01 2001 all TWA Signs and Logos were finally removed - TWA was lost forever !

American Airlines promised to embrace 18000 loyal TWA employees, today less than 3000 remain at American Airlines

TWA's last day, Dec 1, 2001. Filmed and edited by Kaye Chandler, TWA flight attendant. A sad day in aviation history as the wings of TWA were clipped. One of the finest airlines in aviation history. Founded by three flyers in 1926, Jack Frye, Paul Richter and Walt Hamilton, the early years TWA set the newly emerging industry standards. TWA was founded by flyers and the passion they had continues to this day within the hearts of the TWA employees. This is the same video as produced earlier but the audio has been modified to meet with YouTube requirements.
